I however must admit that Camp Mulla (Kenya's new hip-hop band) video Party Don't Stop is a cool material despite it costing Ksh 4 million making it the most expensive video ever shot by a Kenyan artiste or band. Now that most music videos are primarily watched online, artists find themselves freed from the dependency of basing their success story to television alone.
It is without a doubt that this mode of marketing a product is here to stay and it has done wonders for some musicians and music groups.
The age of sharing through sites such as facebook and twitter has made it more easier, so if a good number of people like a certain song or video chances are that link could be turned into a viral. Soon, television and radio stations will join the band wagon and expose the video.
So what makes a cool music video? One certainly doesn't need millions to do so. It can practically be done with nothing if creativity and originality is applied.
In 1999, there was this low budget video made for Fatboy slim called Praise You. It was made with only $1000 but it went on to grab many musical awards beating many major videos done with high budget figures.
